Plan my day in Frankenmuth
Tell us who's coming and we'll lay out an easy day, from where to park in the morning to where to end up at night. Everything here is walkable or a short drive.
Who's coming?
A day for two
- Morning: park free behind the Visitor Center (635 S. Main St.) and pick up the free coupon book and Visitor Guide. Then walk Main Street and catch the Glockenspiel at the Bavarian Inn.
- Lunch: a family-style chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant or Zehnder's, across the street from each other. Where to eat
- Afternoon: browse River Place Shops, take a one-hour Bavarian Belle cruise on the Cass River (through mid-October), then drive to Bronner's.
- Evening: see Bronner's Christmas Lane lights from dusk, then end on the Frankenmuth Brewery patio or with the free live entertainment in the Bavarian Inn's Lorelei Lounge.
A day with the kids
- Morning: start the Gnome Hunt: more than 40 gnomes hide inside local businesses, each next to a four-digit code. Find 15 as you go and take your finds to the Visitor Center (635 S. Main St.) for a prize. Let off steam at the Heritage Park playground (601 Weiss St.).
- Lunch: chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn or Zehnder's, both made for families, or crêpes and beignets at River Place.
- Afternoon: pick one big thing: a waterpark day pass at Zehnder's Splash Village or the Bavarian Inn Lodge, or arcade games and indoor mini golf at the Family Fun Center. More with kids
- Evening: drive Bronner's Christmas Lane after dusk. It's free to drive through.
A day out with friends (21+)
- Morning: Bronner's first, while you're all sharp, then park once downtown. Parking is free. Where to park
- Lunch: chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn or Zehnder's to set you up for the afternoon.
- Afternoon: walk the Main Street Bar Crawl. The Social District runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and there are beer, wine, cocktail and zero-proof routes.
- Evening: live entertainment in the Lorelei Lounge, then get home safe. Pick your driver or your ride before the first drink.
A day with your dog
- Morning: a run at the Hund Platz dog park, then a walk along the Heritage Park riverwalk or the Gunzenhausen Street walkway.
- Midday: River Place Shops, where many stores let dogs inside, and Hello Cats & Dogs, a shop just for pets. Ask at each door.
- Afternoon: the Bavarian Belle riverboat allows dogs on board through mid-October. On Sunday, Oct 18, Scarecrow Fest has a dog costume contest.
- Staying over: see the pet-friendly hotels on our dog-friendly Frankenmuth page.
