Dog-friendly Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth is a good town for dogs: there's a dog park, river walks, and plenty of shops that welcome four-legged visitors.
Where to walk and play
- Hund Platz dog park: the city's park made just for dogs. The CVB describes it as fenced in.
- Heritage Park riverwalk (601 Weiss St.) and the Gunzenhausen Street walkway are both popular dog walks.
Shops and the riverboat
- According to the CVB, many stores at River Place Shops and on Main Street let dogs inside, and some that don't put out water bowls.
- Hello Cats & Dogs at River Place is a shop just for pets.
- The Bavarian Belle riverboat allows dogs on board (May to mid-October).
- Not every business allows dogs, so ask at the door.
Pet-friendly places to stay
The CVB lists the Drury Inn & Suites (260 S. Main St.), Frankenmuth Jellystone Camp Resort (1339 Weiss St.), the Frankenmuth Motel (1218 Weiss St.) and Home2 Suites by Hilton as pet-friendly. Check each one's pet fees and rules when you book.
The Frankenmuth Dog Bowl
A free two-day dog festival at River Place Shops on Memorial Day weekend, with dock diving, disc dogs, herding demos and a balloon glow. Leashes can be no longer than 6 feet. Dates for 2027 haven't been announced. In October, Scarecrow Fest has a dog costume contest too.
Pet policies change, so confirm with each business, park or hotel. Information from frankenmuth.org and business pages, checked October 2026. Frankenmuth Local isn't affiliated with any business listed.
